How it works

From script to the right voice, in four moves.

  1. 1

    Paste a few lines

The opening and one tricky sentence is plenty. Say who's listening and how it should feel.

  2. 2

    Choose who hears it

Post it as a casting to a group, or send it to one voice you've already picked.

  3. 3

    Listen and compare

Reads arrive in your account as they're recorded. Play them back to back, share the link with your team.

  4. 4

    Book, or don't

Pick the voice that fits and pay the published rate. If none of them is right, you've spent nothing.

Questions

First time hiring a voice actor online? Start here.

Is a free voice over audition really free?
Yes. Posting a casting notice is free, asking a voice actor for an audition is free, and listening to what comes back is free. You pay only when you book a voice for the finished recording, at the published rate, and there's no service fee on top.
How do I hire a voice actor online for the first time?
Two ways. Post a free casting with a few lines of your script and a note on the sound you want, then listen to the reads that come back and book the one you like. Or browse the voices, tap Audition free on a profile, and hear that person read your lines before you commit. Booking takes a couple of minutes and the finished file lands in your account.
How much does it cost to hire a voice actor?
One rate card covers every voice on the site, so you know the price before you post. It works by word count and by where the audio will be used. A short read of up to 40 words starts at , a two-minute e-learning script is 5, and TV, radio and internet commercials cost more because they carry a 12-month broadcast licence.
How long does a voice over take to come back?
Auditions first: with a casting notice the first reads often land within the hour and most within the day. Once you book, each voice lists their turnaround on their profile, usually 24 hours and sometimes 8, and anyone at the mic right now shows a four-hour badge. Longer scripts take longer, and posting a casting is the quickest way to see who's free today.
What should I send for an audition? Do I need a finished script?
No. A short piece of your real script is ideal, the opening and one tricky line, plus a sentence on who's listening and how it should sound. If the script is still being written, send a similar paragraph and say so. That's enough for a true read without asking anyone to record the whole job for nothing.
Do I own the recording? Can I use it anywhere?
Non-broadcast recordings, such as phone greetings, e-learning, corporate video, YouTube and audiobooks, are a buyout in perpetuity: yours to use forever with nothing more to pay. TV, radio and internet commercials are licensed for 12 months from the recording date. If a recording has several uses, select each of them when you book.
Can I get my script recorded in another language or accent?
Yes. Filter by language when you browse, or name the language and accent in your casting and native speakers read it in their own voice. If the script needs translating first, the translation service handles that and can have the translation recorded too.
What if the recording isn't what I wanted?
If the voice missed your direction or made a mistake, re-records are free. If you change the script after recording, that's a new recording. And if the voice simply isn't right for the job, our satisfaction guarantee lets you pick another voice from the site to record the same script instead, conditions apply. Live chat is the quickest way to sort any of it.
How do I pay, and is my money safe?
You pay by card or PayPal when you book, and we hold the money rather than passing it straight to the voice. When the recording arrives and you're happy, you release it with one click and get an instant tax invoice. Nothing is paid out until you say so.
Can I share the auditions with my team or my client?
Yes. Every audition sits in your account, and you can share a link so a colleague or client can listen and weigh in without needing an account of their own.

Two minutes to post, nothing to pay, and the first reads are usually back before you've finished your next email.
