Hey, what's going on? My name is Ryan Drean. I'm working with The Voice Realm and we've created an introduction to voiceover seminar. It's actually a really laid back starter course to go from, hey, I think I might wanna do this to, okay, now I'm at the point where I'm going to be paid to speak. So I start with step one. It's just having a desire. I'm very honest with the work that goes into it. I've been doing this for 20 plus years and I started out to we talk about technical coaching training, you know, the ins and outs of day to day work. There is a lot that goes into it, but we get the bulk of the of the beginning work. laid out in about 30 minutes, 45 minutes. And then we have a nice chunk of interactive time as well. So I hope you can join me. I think I mentioned this just about every Saturday, 11 a.m. Central and easy to sign up at The Voice Realm. I hope you get signed up. I hope you check it out and I'd love to see you soon.

This is a home studio

Recorded at home. Not in a hired studio.

No booth to book, no hourly rate, no thousands of pounds of gear. A quiet corner, something soft on the wall and a microphone you can carry in one hand. Here is what those rooms actually look like.

A woman recording voiceover in a converted wardrobe at home
A wardrobeClothes pushed to one side, a duvet pinned to the wall and a laptop balanced on the ironing board.
A man recording voiceover at a desk in a spare bedroom
A spare bedroomA microphone on the desk, headphones, the script on paper and the boxes nobody ever unpacked.
A voice actor recording inside a small booth built in a garage
A garage boothFoam on the walls, a proper microphone, a tablet for the script. Built over a weekend, not bought.

Press play

This is how it sounds.

Four studio quality samples, four accents. No music, no production, nothing to hide behind. Just the voice as it came out of a room like the ones above.

Ryan Drean in his studio Ryan DreanLead instructor

With over 20 years of experience spanning radio, voice acting, and national and international professional audio production, Ryan brings a rare, 360-degree perspective to the industry. His voiceover work spans the globe, ranging from targeted local campaigns to major international tech brands and everything in between. Rather than acting as a traditional coach, Ryan serves as a professional asset and mentor, guiding talent to visualize projects not just as performers, but through the analytical eyes of the audio engineer, casting director, producer, and client.

Ryan firmly believes that modern voice talent must be well-versed in all aspects of their business, particularly the technical and audio side. His extensive background includes designing and building audio spaces of every scale from simple, single-laptop setups inside a closet to commercial, 1,000-plus square foot facilities fully equipped for professional voiceover, music tracking, and multi-talent podcasts. He combines this technical mastery with a disciplined, fiscally conservative approach to business operations: he does not cut corners, but he does not tolerate wasted time or wasted money.

Now, Ryan is opening his studio doors to equip the next generation of talent with a realistic blueprint for industry success. His instruction focuses on mastering the intersection of performance, studio acoustics, and daily business infrastructure. Whether you are starting from a completely clean slate or looking to transition into the professional voiceover market, Ryan provides the practical roadmap and technical baseline necessary to build a sustainable, self-sufficient career.
